The big Techniker Prime League finals takes place on August 24 in the Event Arena (Hall 1) at gamescom – with a pre-show, up to 3,000 fans on-site, and live broadcasts on Twitch and YouTube. Berlin / Cologne, May 20, 2025 – Freaks 4U Gaming is bringing the Techniker Prime League back to gamescom: On August 24, 2025, the final of the highest-tier League of Legends competition in the German-speaking region will take place on the main stage (Hall 1). Up to 3,000 spectators will experience the grand finale live in the Event Arena at Koelnmesse. The last time the DACH League of Legends esports scene celebrated a final at gamescom was in 2019 with the Prime League’s predecessor, the Premier Tour.

The finals day will kick off with a pre-show to build excitement in the arena and set the stage for the major best-of-five showdown. The two finalist teams will have qualified through the Season Finals, with decisive matches taking place on August 14 and 19, 2025. Besides fame, glory, and a cheering crowd, the finals also come with cash prizes: €8,000 for the winning team and €5,000 for the runner-up, taken from a total Season Finals prize pool of €20,000. Both finalists will also qualify for the EMEA Masters, Europe’s top-tier tournament.

Big Stage, Strong Partners, Top-Tier Teams

The Techniker Prime League Finals are among the biggest esports highlights in the DACH region. Over the past three years, the finals have toured across Germany — starting in its home city Berlin in 2022, then heading north to Hamburg in 2023, and last year setting a record with over 2,000 attendees in picturesque Neu-Ulm. This year, it’s moving west to offer all fans a truly unique finals experience.

On-site, fans can expect not only top-tier League of Legends gameplay but also an extensive fan program featuring partner activations, the pre-show, and many other attractions centered around the Techniker Prime League. This is made possible through the support of numerous partners: Techniker Krankenkasse, DKB, Nongshim, KitKat, Bitburger 0.0, R+V, and HOLY. A detailed schedule of fan activities will be released in the coming weeks on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram.

gamescom and Freaks 4U Gaming Jointly Promote Esports and Competitive Gaming in Germany

In addition to the Techniker Prime League’s offline finals, gamescom will also host the new Pro Arena, spanning over 2,500 square meters in Hall 8. This forward-thinking concept merges esports, community events, and interactive entertainment. SK Gaming has already been confirmed as the first major partner, with more to follow. The goal of this collaboration is to firmly establish esports as a key pillar of gamescom and to offer visitors yet another standout experience.

Matthias Remmert, Senior Vice President Product, TV & Media Productions:
“A final at gamescom is one of the biggest highlights we can offer the Techniker Prime League and its community. A massive stage, thousands of fans, and the full attention of the gaming world – this is exactly where a League of Legends final belongs. Our teams get the stage they deserve, and our partners gain a strong platform to present themselves authentically to the target audience. This event brings together the best players from the DACH scene – live, loud, and passionate.”

Quote from Tim Endres, Director at gamescom:
“gamescom and esports have always gone hand in hand. As an essential part of gaming culture, esports represents more than just competition – it stands for values like teamwork, fair play, and high-level performance. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome the Prime League to gamescom this year.”

Access and Broadcast

Access to the offline final is included in the regular gamescom ticket – and for those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed in full on the Techniker Prime League Twitch and YouTube channels.
