The renewal agreement marks a significant milestone in Freaks 4U Gaming’s long-standing partnership with Riot Games and its role in supporting the growth and development of the LoL Esports EMEA ecosystem. Since 2018, Freaks 4U Gaming has been championing the development of competitive League of Legends in the DACH region as the operator of Premier Tour, the predecessor of Prime League. Launched in 2020, Prime League has seen steady growth in the scale of its operations, following, and engagement with an impressive list of milestones:
- Most recently, Prime League hosted the largest offline event for its 2024 Summer Split finals at Ratiopharm Arena in Neu-Ulm, Germany, welcoming more than 2,300 fans, partners and B2B guests onsite.
- With a dedicated, state-of-the-art studio at Freaks 4U Gaming’s Berlin-Spandau headquarters, Prime League has produced 680 broadcasts totaling 3,500 hours of content.
- The Prime League social media channels have shown steady growth by more than doubling their overall engagement since 2020, with over 8,200 social posts created to date.
Prime League has become a popular and relevant esports product in the DACH region amongst brands, bringing in a diverse roster of sponsors over the years with partner agencies such as SPORTFIVE . The league welcomed its first-ever title partner STRAUSS, a leading European work and utility apparel brand, for 2022 and 2023, followed by Techniker Krankenkasse, the largest health insurance company in Germany, for 2024. After its successful integration into the Prime League in 2024, Techniker Krankenkasse is set to return as the Title Partner in 2025.
Going forward, Prime League will further build on its strengths to remain a leading esports entertainment ecosystem in the DACH region, setting a high standard for regional competitive excellence, player experience and community engagement. With this vision, Freaks 4U Gaming will continue to deliver a total solution to the management of Prime League, while providing an ever-evolving innovative and creative framework to deliver the best experience to all its partners, players and fans.
Matthias Remmert , Senior Vice President of Product, TV & Media Production, said: “We are incredibly excited about the license renewal for Prime League, it is a testament to the solid foundation Freaks has laid and our commitment to elevating the League of Legends ecosystem in the DACH region. We appreciate the trust from Riot Games and look forward to our continued partnership.”
Remmert added: “Bridging esports with adjacent industries is part of our mission at Freaks to proactively drive the growth and development of gaming and esports, and we are grateful for our successful collaboration of Techniker Krankenkasse to exemplify exactly that. We are pleased to welcome Techniker Krankenkasse to return as the Title Partner of Prime League in 2025, as we continue to work together on new ideas to engage the community and elevate the league.”
Bruno Kollhorst, Head of Cooperations and Event Marketing at Techniker Krankenkasse mentioned: "Our partnership with Freaks 4U Gaming allows us to effectively anchor health topics within the Prime League audience and promote awareness of a healthy lifestyle among esport players."
“Prime League is truly a culmination of commitment and efforts from all its stakeholders. We are proud of the teams and players for their athletic achievements year after year; we are thankful for our sponsors for believing in our ambition for reaching new heights; and of course, the league would not be where it is today without the unwavering support and passion of our community,” Remmert concluded.
