The Brief
OverTake was originally pitched to Porsche as their digital footprint in the sim racing world as well as a way to bring virtual racing closer to gamers in general. This came in the form of written content on the website OverTake.gg, videos on the OverTake YouTube channel and other social media, and live shows.
The Challenges
At first, none of our Editorial team had extensive knowledge about the scene, but with the acquisition of new members and the use of freelancers, we soon became experts in the domain of sim racing.
OverTake was consistently evolving, undergoing structural changes as well as an expanded scope, but we always came out ahead of it.
Results
Some of us were forged into YouTube experts, allowing us to experiment and learn the craft along the way. Additionally, we employed the help of freelancers for written content, who had an extensive background in sim racing. This resulted in a fruitful cooperation with Porsche and a strong brand name for OverTake, which spread its wings and flew, becoming its very own company in September 2023.
During our time with the project, OverTake grew from nothing to one of the most well-known brands in sim racing. OverTake.gg's editorial content saw upwards of 100,000 views in peak months, with an average monthly total of around 80,000 by the end of 2022. Meanwhile, the YouTube channel exploded, becoming one of the biggest in the sim racing space with over 100,000 subscribers and individual videos clocking in at 500,000+ views.
